Despite the negative reviews I decided to take a chance. It was well worth it, not sure about the extra five bucks for 3D. The effects got a little choppy a couple of times but not that bad.
Pretty good cast. Madchen Amick looked amazing, I remember her from Twin Peaks. Christopher Plummer's character could not be further from Captain Von Trapp. Cam Gigadnet looks ready to break into the next level of stardom. And he got an OC reunion with Alan Dale. Paul Bettany and Maggie Q play their parts without anything extraneous, and in my opinion it works for their characters. Karl Urban steals several scenes, this is the first time I have seen him in something since The Chronicles of Riddick. The church takes the biggest beating, so much so that I wonder why there were no protests.
In conclusion, I wouldn't expect any Oscar nods but a decent action flick. Thumbs up.
